Krisha & Frank are back with a super-sized Thanksgiving Special. Their normal schedule resumes on Monday.

Frank points out that the balloons in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade are inflated, not “blown up.” Next-door neighbor Nancy is often in the Macy’s Parade. This year, Dolly Parton will be in the parade.

Krisha recalls her older cousins drinking beer in the driveway on Thanksgiving. Frank would learn a new magic trick to entertain his grandparents before Thanksgiving dinner.

Santa Joe Moore sent a special greeting to Krisha & Frank. You can schedule a video chat with Santa at JingleRing.com. Use the JingleID code Jingle301 to talk with Santa Joe.

Frank saw local meteorologist Becca Sweet report from a children’s museum in which they inflated balloons using vinegar and baking soda. He and Krisha do the experiment in the backyard. Put baking soda in a balloon. Put vinegar in a bottle. Put the balloon on the bottle and drop the baking soda from the balloon into the vinegar.

Krisha brought crayons and construction paper to make handprint turkeys. Frank has never made one before. Frank’s wife looked up some turkey fun facts. A young male is a jake and a young female is a jenny. The wattle dangles under a turkey’s chin and the snood is over the beak and sometimes drapes down.

Daniel Leach of Snipe Hunt Media sent an email with his Thanksgiving greeting. Krisha & Frank met him at the Gatlinburg Improv Fest.

Frank bought some local hard cider to try. His wife Jere made gluten-free pumpkin chocolate-chip cookies. She used butter instead of coconut oil. You can find the original dairy-free recipe at https://meaningfuleats.com/gluten-free-classic-pumpkin-chocolate-chip-cookies-dairy-free/

Frank recalls that his dad bought a favorite pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving but accidentally ruined it when he got home. Their friend Bean objected to A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving because the bird Woodstock eats turkey. Frank sent him a list of dozens of birds that eat other birds, including turkey vultures.

Krisha & Frank both love eggnog from Weigel’s, a local convenience store. Frank thinks Kurt Weigel should buy ads on the podcast. Frank put a National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation moose mug on his Amazon wish list. You can order one here: https://amzn.to/2IZuwe6

For the show finale, Krisha & Frank host their own Thanksgiving Day parade featuring actual helium-filled balloons, including SpongeBob and Elmo. People smiled at Krisha when she carried the balloons. Frank thinks he would look like Carl Fredricksen, the old man from Up.

Krisha wanted to be a Radio City Rockette and tries to demonstrate. While cleaning up the mess, they show a Thanksgiving video from Artie, Timmy, and Charlie.

Jay Fox sent a contribution to the podcast equipment fund. Frank said Jay could make Krisha do something on the show. Krisha seems appalled. Krisha & Frank act out the improv suggestion sent by Jay Fox. Krisha portrays the author of a self-help book on how to start hiccuping.

Krisha is planning to celebrate Thanksgiving with her kids this Sunday. She reveals that she doesn’t engage with some other family members for a very surprising reason.

Krisha shows off the gyration that she does right before going on stage. Frank saw opera singer Rochelle Bard do a similar move.

Krisha’s new favorite word is “sonder.” It means “the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.” Some people make up names and backstories for strangers they see at parties or events.

Krisha sometimes gets recognized in public. Frank relates a story of a time when that happened to him. Frank turned up in the background of a photo of a friend he wouldn’t meet until several years later. Frank mentions the similarities between dance competitions, swim meets, and dog shows.

Your homework assignment is to ponder the relatively new word “sonder.” It means “the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.”

Frank jokes about the type of man Krisha should find. Krisha says that people tell her the same thing except they’re not joking. Krisha and Kara Van Veghel wrote a parody version of “Please Don’t Touch Me” that they perform at Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre. Frank is amazed at how anyone can write music.

Krisha & Frank are off to a rough start because Frank is stressed about some things planned for later in the day. Doing the show relaxes Frank, similar to a time that Krisha & Frank did a two-person improv set and had to follow a performance artist who poured water over her head.

Krisha and her friend Jennifer want to excuse their kids from some chores so they can just be kids. Frank comments that our electronic devices eat up a lot of our time.

Krisha is very tired after starting rehearsals for the Christmas show at Sweet Fanny Adams Theatre. During the finale of Tuesday’s regular show, Krisha put on a different wig and was told she looks like Imogene Coca. Frank says that if Imogene was Sid Caesar’s sidekick, Sid could simultaneously be Imogene’s sidekick. They discuss other famous comedy duos.

Krisha & Frank went to the funeral for Bill Slayden, a founding member of Einstein Simplified. Krisha had planned on paying her respects at the visitation and leaving before the service. Frank and his wife planned on staying for the whole thing. There were seven comedy improvisers in attendance and they all sat together and joked about having enough people to put on a show. Their friend Dave said that Frank “has no chill.”

Krisha started getting emotional during the eulogies. Frank said he had a great time. Dave said the people behind the comedians moved to other seats. Frank points out that Dave’s time on the phone with Krisha & Frank is the most he has heard of the podcast.

Krisha felt sorry for Frank’s wife because she had to put up with the joking by all the improvisers who hadn’t seen each other since March. Krisha says their joke level was turned up to 11 and that they were using comedy to numb their emotions.

Krisha went home from the funeral, cooked comfort food, and binge-watched The Queen’s Gambit. Frank got an email from his mom’s church congratulating him on how well he organized her funeral. Krisha would be willing to work at a funeral home. Frank imagines a “Brook & Murphy” funeral business.
